Paradise expands Quantum line with PD155i Satellite Modem/IP Router
10 March 2010
Paradise has released the PD155i, a 155Mbps IP satellite modem/router offering an extensive range of network management and bandwidth optimisation features. A 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch, advanced routing and Quality of Service protocols are supported as part of the feature-rich IP functionality.
Traffic shaping allocates bandwidth in a controlled manner between competing data streams. This allows data services — including the satellite portion of the link — to be fully provisioned end-to-end rather than being simply ‘best effort’. Large bandwidth reductions are achieved using a range of data compression and acceleration techniques. Paired Carrier (incorporating ViaSat’s patented PCMA technology) can further halve satellite bandwidth requirements.
State-of-the-art forward-error-correction (FEC) technology includes Turbo and LDPC. Lowlatency FastLink LDPC is attractive for lowdata-rate links. Single/multistream DVB-S2 is also supported. Embedded satellite and IP diagnostic tools are included and are the most sophisticated available on the market. The PD155i is fully compatible with all other Quantum-series modems in IP closed modes.

PowerMAX achieves 4kW output power
22 February 2010
Paradise Datacom reveals a significant milestone in the evolution of PowerMAX, the Company's modular, soft-fail redundant ultra-high power Solid State Power Amplifier system. In a recent test of a C-band PowerMAX system, measured power levels exceeded 4,000 watts of RF output power.
Other PowerMAX features include:
Passive combining via Paradise Datacom’s proprietary network Field-scalability — start with four modules and grow to eight or sixteen as the demand for more power increases Accurate "true-RMS" RF output power monitoring Modules are “hot-swap” removable through front panel Embedded power-monitoring software senses module failure and adjusts total system output power to compensate instantly for applications that require constant output power — no switching required Ethernet monitor and control Front / rear panel removable fans Redundant, Hot-swap modular power supplies
Paradise Unveils Indoor RF Converters
30 October 2009
Paradise Datacom announced the release of their complete line of indoor rack-mount block converters (RBC). Packaged in a standard 19” EIA rack mount chassis, the converter is configurable to accommodate C, X and Ku-band RF modules. The chassis design allows RF modules to be removed and replaced from the rear panel without the need to interrupt chassis power.
Since one common chassis supports all frequency bands, it can be fitted with any combination of RF modules, which includes mixing up-converters and down-converters. The on-board software will sense and determine the frequency and type of module automatically. In addition, internal redundancy logic allows each chassis to be operated in single, dual or 1:1 redundant modes.
The Up-converter translates an L-band input signal anywhere within the range of 950-2050 MHz to a C, X or Ku-band output frequency depending on which module is installed. Conversely, the Down-converter translates a C, X or Ku-band input signal to an output frequency in the range of 950 to 2050 MHz.
The converter architecture is based upon Paradise Datacom’s highly successful zBUC L-band RF converter module used throughout our line of Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA). The high-stability on-board oscillator is referenced to an internal 10 MHz source or will accept external 5 and 10 MHz sources.
Remote control and monitoring is available via the rear panel parallel I/O, serial I/O or Ethernet M&C ports.
Introducing our new 8QAM/LDPC feature
17 September 2009
Paradise Datacom has obsoleted our previous version of 8QAM LDPC, replacing it with "FastLink", a vastly superior performing combination of 8QAM and low latency LDPC.
Paradise launches new Ka-Band LNA
23 February 2009
Paradise Datacom's Ka-Band Low Noise Amplifier now features a smaller, lighter enclosure. The new LNA weighs less than half a pound, but still provides the same outstanding gain stability and gain flatness of Paradise Datacom's other LNAs.
The RF18 Series Ka-Band LNA produces the industry's lowest noise temperatures (down to 140 °C), and is backed by Paradise Datacom's 36-month warranty.
Paradise unveils Manpack ready X-Band BUC
11 February 2009
Paradise Datacom has designed a lightweight X-Band Block Up Converter specifically tailored for fly-away and manpack applications.
The converter is available in 10W and 30W power levels. Download a copy of the specification sheet for more details.
